Inter challenged for Serie A and claimed the lead at multiple points in the season, but their poor results against main rivals Parma and Juventus meant that they were ultimately unable to secure the league title. They found more success in cup competitions, though, reaching the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and the final of the UEFA Cup. A dominant 3-0 win away to Juve in the Coppa Italia is still fondly remembered by Inter supporters to this day.
